The prevalence of the 581G mutation of the dhps gene in Africa 

We identified 112 publications describing 267 surveys and 158 unique study sites in 30 African countries. 30493isolates have been tested and the 581G mutation detected in only 1757 (5.8%) of these - indicating that this mutation is comparatively rare (Gesase et al., 2009).
